Layer 1
Dispatch
Queued, attempted, delivered, bounced, suppressed. Most tools stop here and call it analytics. We treat it as plumbing. If mute state and quiet-hour policy are not in this grain, the rest of the map will lie.
Custom map · Lifecycle messaging analytics
The Lifecycle Atlas is not software. It is the five-layer map Signal Path Studio, Journey Ledger, and Quiet Hours Lab all share. If your dashboard only has layer one, you are still reading a send log.
Layer 1
Queued, attempted, delivered, bounced, suppressed. Most tools stop here and call it analytics. We treat it as plumbing. If mute state and quiet-hour policy are not in this grain, the rest of the map will lie.
Layer 2
Rendered, glanced, ignored, opened on a lock screen that nobody read. In-app impression time belongs here, not in a vanity open column. Quiet Hours Lab lives almost entirely on this layer.
Layer 3
Two channels claiming the same return. Journey Ledger is the worksheet for this layer: which message was merely present, which one changed the next action, which one crowded the other out.
Layer 4
Payday, Songkran, regional sales, payday-adjacent weekends. Cohort Threading teaches you to draw these on the curve before you brief a PM. Thailand is not an edge case in this studio; it is the default weather.
Layer 5
Holdouts, contamination, and the one-paragraph risk note. Holdout Grammar exists because a beautiful Atlas without a withheld group is still a story. We prefer a smaller honest holdout to a theatrical 50/50 that never ships.
How to use it
Print the five layers. For any journey in production, mark which layer you can actually query today. The empty cells are the curriculum, not a failure. Bring that page to a fit conversation with the desk.
Signal Path Studio walks all five layers across twelve weeks. Quiet Hours Lab deepens layer two. Journey Ledger is almost only layer three. Holdout Grammar is layer five with legal-friendly language. Cohort Threading is layer four with Thai calendars.
The Atlas still applies. Vendor identity graphs do not automatically give you interference or calendar annotation. Several Conservatory Year seats are held by teams with expensive stacks and thin holdout practice.
